4 Day Black Leopard Expedition in Laikipia Wilderness, Kenya
Day 1 - Drive to Laikipia Wilderness
- You will be warmly welcomed at the airport or hotel by your private guide. After a short briefing, settle into your private Land Cruiser and begin the scenic drive toward Laikipia, one of Kenya’s most wildlife-rich and least–crowded wilderness regions.
- By afternoon, you’ll arrive at your private Luxury lodge, a secluded and intimate retreat perfectly positioned on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River. After checking in, take some time to relax and soak in the raw, untamed beauty of Laikipia—your gateway to one of Africa’s most elusive sightings: the legendary black leopard.

Day 2 - Search of Giza, the Black Leopard
- Today is dedicated to exploring Laikipia, one of Kenya’s most exclusive and ecologically rich wilderness areas. After an early breakfast, head out on a full-day game drive across rolling hills, river valleys, and acacia-dotted plains in search of Africa’s rarest cat — Giza, the legendary black leopard of Laikipia. Your guide will share stories of her sightings and insights into the region’s pioneering conservation efforts that protect both wildlife and the local communities who live alongside it.
- Between sightings, enjoy a picnic lunch in the bush surrounded by nature’s quiet rhythm. As the afternoon unfolds, continue your exploration, with chances to encounter elephants, lions, reticulated giraffes, and Grevy’s zebras — species found only in this part of Africa.
Day 3: Morning Giza & Moran Warrior Encounter
- Begin the morning with another drive into Laikipia’s wilderness in search of Giza, the elusive black leopard. As you explore, keep an eye out for hyenas, lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, and the many other species that thrive in this pristine landscape. After the search, enjoy a bush breakfast before heading back to the lodge for a short rest.
- Late morning you’ll meet the Moran warriors — young men in their traditional warrior stage, known for their disciplined lifestyle and diet of blood, meat, and milk during initiation. They will share insights into their customs, responsibilities, and the significance of this rite of passage.
- Later head back out in the afternoon for a sunset game drive in search of lions and other wildlife — or choose to make one final attempt at spotting Giza before the sun sets.
Day 4 - Final Drive Through Laikipia on the way to Nairobi
- After breakfast, begin the journey back from Laikipia, keeping an eye out for wildlife along the way as you pass through the region’s open plains and forested valleys. You’ll stop for lunch en route before continuing toward the city, where you will be dropped off at the airport or at your chosen hotel, marking the end of your Black Leopard Expedition.
